WHO WE ARE

Mission Statement

Provide resources for written expression to inspire people to begin writing, whatever form it may be, and show how it can help improve one’s mental health.

Our Values

Will

It’s important to find your will, so you may prosper in achieving greatness in all you do. It is our will to raise awareness on mental health and provide resources that will benefit those in need.

Growth

There is always room for growth within ourselves whether it be big or small. We want you to push yourself to reach new goals and through the use of writing, you can make it possible.

Inspire

We aim to inspire people to get creative through writing and create an environment for people to inspire others. If we are able to inspire others, then the world becomes that much brighter.

Positivity

In order to promote the 3 previous values, we need to show and have positivity amongst ourselves. It is essential that those who support us share positivity with others.

Meet The Team

Ronnie Medrano

Co-Director

Welcome! My name is Ronnie and I am currently studying English with an emphasis on creative writing. I am here with the JW Project because writing has helped improve my mental health. I’ve used writing as a tool to help get through many challenges life has thrown at me. One goal I hope to achieve with the JW Project is to inspire others to get creative and use the tool of writing while also raising awareness on mental health.

Angelo Samson

Co-Director

Hi, my name is Angelo and I have a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from California State University, Northridge. I joined this foundation because writing has changed my life and I hope it does the same for you. I’ve been writing for two years and completed two journals and currently working on my third. One thing I hope to see as the foundation grows, is an increase of community involvement and the awareness of mental health.

Brandon Serna

Marketing Manager

Hey, I’m glad you’ve reached this side of the site! My name is Brandon Serna, a recent graduate from Cal State Northridge and I am very grateful to be part of a team that is invested in helping other’s mental health. The JW Project’s mission resonated with me because I use the same methods to organize my own mind. I want to continue expanding what we can do to help others and see what we can accomplish.

Leslie Valle

Content Manager

Hi my name is Leslie Valle and I am currently studying to get my bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Communications. Being able to be a part of the JW project means being able to impact the lives of many by showing them the importance of raising awareness for mental health and how different it can look on individuals. Writing is a big part of my life and career choice, but is also one of my outlets to improve my mental health.

Anna D'Arcy

Media Manager

Hello! My name is Anna. I graduated from CSUN with a bachelor's degree in cinema and television production. I am very excited to be a part of the team creating all the artwork for The JW Project! Art and writing is very close to my heart as an outlet to express emotion and tell stories. Being creative has helped me so much when I struggled with my mental health. I believe that a space to be unapologetically yourself with your creativity is incredibly important and I hope we can provide that space for you here!

Isaac Yang

Media Producer

Hello! My name is Isaac Yang and I am currently studying to get my bachelors degree in Business Marketing. I wanted to be a part of The JW Project because I want to help raise awareness on mental health. The past year due to COVID-19, I struggled a lot with my mental health and didn’t have an outlet to talk about it. By being a part of this project, I want to help make it known that there is a place, no matter where you are, to express your feelings and be heard.
